"Our water heater died on a Sunday night. Texted with their system at 9 PM, had a new one installed by Monday at noon. Price matched the quote to the dollar."

Straight answers from
a real plumber.

How long should my water heater last? +
Tank heaters: 8–12 years. Tankless: 15–20. Southern California's hard water shortens that — mineral scale builds up fast here. If yours is past 10 years, making popping noises, or the water looks rusty, replace it before it fails. A planned swap costs hundreds less than an emergency one after it floods the garage.
Why does SoCal hard water matter for my plumbing? +
Riverside County water runs 15–25 grains per gallon — among the hardest in the country. That scale clogs faucet aerators, kills water heaters early, and chokes tankless units. Flushing your water heater yearly and considering a softener or conditioner protects every fixture in the house.
What are the warning signs of a slab leak? +
Watch for: a water bill that jumps with no change in habits, warm spots on the floor, the sound of running water when everything's off, or cracks in flooring. Quick test: turn off every fixture, then check your water meter. If the little dial still spins, water is going somewhere — call us before it undermines the foundation.
Is there anything I shouldn't put down my drains? +
The big four: grease, coffee grounds, eggshells, and "flushable" wipes (they're not flushable). Grease coats the pipe and everything else sticks to it. And skip the liquid drain cleaners — they damage older pipes and rarely clear the real blockage. If a drain is slow twice in one month, there's a problem worth a camera look.
Is a tankless water heater worth it? +
Often, yes: endless hot water, ~30% lower gas use, and double the lifespan. The catch in SoCal is hard water — tankless units here need an annual descale and ideally a conditioner. We'll size it to your actual fixture count, not a brochure number, and tell you honestly if a standard tank is the smarter buy for your house.
Where is my main water shutoff? +
Usually on the front hose bib line where the supply enters the house, or at the meter box near the curb. Find it before you need it — in a burst-pipe emergency, every minute costs you drywall. Turn it clockwise to close. Can't find or turn yours? Ask your tech on the next visit; we'll show you for free.
